This collection has 10 electric kettles from six brands: Westpoint (3), Philips (2), Anex (2), Kenwood, Braun and Enviro, with more Anex, Dawlance and Panasonic kettles in our kitchen range. Most hold 1.7 to 2 litres and are rated between 1,200 W and 2,200 W. A higher wattage boils faster, which is handy for morning chai. We are in Cantt, Multan, and deliver across Pakistan; delivery charges depend on location and are confirmed after the order.

How many units does an electric kettle use?

Estimate: the Philips HD-9314 is rated 2,200 W. If it runs for about 5 minutes, that is 2.2 kW x 5/60 h = about 0.18 unit, or about Rs 6 at Rs 33.10 a unit (201 to 300 slab, as of October 2026, NEPRA tariff decision, February 2026). Boil only the water you need and the cost drops further. By the same estimate, four full boils a day stay under 1 unit.

A lower-wattage kettle takes longer but uses about the same energy for the same water. Look for automatic switch-off and boil-dry protection, which the Philips and Enviro spec sheets list.

Steel or plastic, and other checks

Steel-body kettles such as the Philips HD-9350 SS and Kenwood ZJM-10 SS are easy to wipe clean. Check for a 360-degree base (the Enviro EK-1708 lists one), a removable filter and a locking lid. If you plan to run a kettle on a UPS or solar inverter, its rating in watts must be above the kettle's, so check the UPS rating before you plug in a 2,200 W kettle.

How do I stop scale in my kettle?

Hard water leaves scale on the element (PJAAEVS), and Multan groundwater is high in dissolved solids (a study via RePEc). A removable filter helps, and descaling with vinegar or citric acid every few weeks keeps it boiling fast. Pour out leftover water after use so minerals do not settle on the element. Is a 2,200 W kettle better than a 1,200 W kettle?

It boils faster, but it does not use much more energy for the same amount of water, because it runs for less time. A 1,200 W kettle, such as the Enviro EK-1708, suits homes with weak wiring or a small UPS. For quick chai in the morning, 2,000 W and above is more convenient.
