Irons and Garment Steamers

We list 41 irons and garment steamers from seven brands: Philips (12), Dawlance, Kenwood and Panasonic (6 each), Anex, Westpoint and Beetro. The range splits fairly evenly between dry irons, steam irons and garment steamers, from 1,000 W dry irons to a 2,600 W Westpoint steamer with a built-in board. For cotton shalwar kameez, a heavier iron with steam does most of the work. We are in Cantt, Multan, and deliver across Pakistan; delivery charges depend on location and are confirmed after the order.

Dry iron, steam iron or garment steamer?

TypeBest forExample
Dry ironCotton, lawn, quick daily pressing; no water neededBeetro BDI-1272 (1,000 W)
Steam ironThick cotton, linen, stubborn creasesPhilips, Panasonic, Dawlance, Kenwood
Garment steamerHanging clothes, chiffon, embroidered and formal wearWestpoint WF-1159 (2,600 W)

A steamer will not give the sharp crease a dry or steam iron gives on shalwar or trousers, but it is gentler on embroidery and faster for formal outfits during wedding season.

What to check before you buy an iron

  • Weight: heavy dry irons such as the Anex 1076B press thick cotton with less effort.
  • Temperature settings: the Beetro BDI-1272 lists six settings and a non-stick soleplate.
  • For steamers, tank size and heat-up time: the Westpoint WF-1159 lists a 2.2 litre tank and a 40-second heat-up.
  • Warranty: the Beetro BDI-1272 spec lists 3 years.
  • Cord length and a stable heel rest.

How much electricity does an iron use?

Estimate: a 1,000 W dry iron used for 30 minutes uses at most 1 kW x 0.5 h = 0.5 unit, about Rs 17 at Rs 33.10 a unit (201 to 300 slab, as of October 2026, NEPRA tariff decision, February 2026). The real figure is lower because the thermostat switches the heater off once the plate is hot. A 2,600 W steamer for 15 minutes is at most 0.65 unit.

Will hard water damage a steam iron?

It can. Hard water leaves scale (PJAAEVS), and groundwater in Multan is high in dissolved solids (a study via RePEc). Scale blocks steam holes and causes white flakes on clothes. Follow the manual on water type, and use the self-clean or anti-calc function if your model has one.

Frequently asked questions

Steam iron or dry iron: which is better?

A dry iron is simpler, needs no water and is fine for daily cotton and lawn. A steam iron removes deep creases faster on thick cotton and linen, but needs clean water and occasional descaling. Many homes keep a dry iron for daily use and a steamer for formal wear.

Is a garment steamer worth it?

It is worth it if you press a lot of formal, embroidered or delicate clothes, since you steam them while they hang and do not need a board. It does not give the sharp creases of an iron. Some standing models, such as the Westpoint WF-1159, include a built-in ironing board.

How many units does an iron use?

Multiply wattage by time. A 1,000 W iron running for 30 minutes uses at most 0.5 unit, which is about Rs 17 at Rs 33.10 a unit (October 2026 slab rate), before tax. Actual use is lower, because the thermostat cycles the heater off once it reaches temperature.

Which iron brand is good in Pakistan?

Philips has the most models in our range, followed by Dawlance, Kenwood and Panasonic, with Anex and Westpoint as lower-cost options. Compare wattage, soleplate type (non-stick or ceramic), weight and the warranty listed on the spec sheet rather than the brand alone.
